story season

I seem to be preparing for winter hibernation much too early; before it even threatens snow. I walk through the library, judging books by their covers. I read voraciously in the mornings, when it’s still dark. In the daytime, I discover ideas for short stories I’d forgotten about. And last weekend, evenings were spent getting lost in a different kind of story. J and I discuss strategy over dinner, sharing our favourite parts of the game and what we’ll do next. I don’t even notice it gets dark so early now. I don’t seem to care.

Well normally it’s a lot colder by now so we’re all discombobulated.

“I walk through the library, judging books by their covers.” — and why not… Enjoy your early preparation.

I think I’ve hit holiday mode already. I have a new Christmas puzzle waiting, which I normally start on December first (or the first moment I have afterward) and I’m dying to start it now. It has snowed here though so maybe that’s part of it. Not noticing it getting dark is always a good thing, I’m not quite there yet. If you read anything good this winter let me know ;)

Sarah K: I don’t hate it yet, but my resolve is slipping – I can tell!
Jason: Is it? I seem to remember it being kind of like this last year at this time, but I have such a poor weather memory.
Denise: Thanks. It’s certainly led me to some great books in the past!
Carla: J and I bought an advent calendar on the weekend – oof! And I’ll definitely let you know about a good book. Enjoy your snow!
