I’m excited to announce that a short story of mine, Sorry Every Day, is featured in the latest issue of Storychord! The song and illustration featured alongside it are wonderful and everything works together perfectly. I love Storychord and I’m honoured to have been included.

You can check it out here.

Samantha’s Note, 2023: This story could be considered the prototype to The Quiet is Loud – it features the characters of Mary, her mother Judith, and Judith’s brother Brian, and the main conflict between Brian and Judith. Brian’s daughter Freya, TQIL’s protagonist, wasn’t even a glimmer in my eye at this point. It’s so cool to look back on this story now and see where so much of it started.

That is a great story! My favorite part was the mention of Adventures in Babysitting, we use to watch that all the time and it was one of my mom’s favorites lol. It’s funny, when I was reading it I was reminded of our train ride from Halifax to Quebec City. It wasn’t a move but I was writing down all the stations we stopped at for a while, then slowly I just stopped. So I have an incomplete list somewhere in my travel souvenirs. Such a simple store, and very well written. And I really like that site, I might have to start following it. Thanks for sharing!

      Thank you!

Adventures in Babysitting really was my favourite movie at one point in childhood. I watched it more times than I can remember. Oof.

Hello! I just read your story on Storychord. I once spent 3 hours on a Greyhound bus in the middle of the US. Three hours that felt like 3 years.

Great piece! :) I really enjoyed reading it.

Greyhounds have a lovely way of making life seem interminable, don’t they?
